Plans are Under Way for H.E.L.P.’s “A Royal Affaire” Fundraiser

H.E.L.P.’s 2012 annual fundraiser, Celebrate Summer, will be held on June 22 at Trump Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.  The theme of the Friday evening event will be “A Royal Affaire,” in honor of the Queen’s 60th anniversary and the summer Olympics in London. The evening will begin with a reception and silent auction on the Trump veranda overlooking the ocean, followed by dinner, a live auction, award presentation, dancing and entertainment.

H.E.L.P. is presently seeking sponsors for the event, as well as donations of silent and live auction items.  We are greatly indebted to our wonderful sponsors for their continued support of our mission and programs. The Ralph Scriba Family Fund kicked off H.E.L.P.’s sponsorship drive for Celebrate Summer with a $50,000 Royal Donor sponsorship, which has been a great inspiration to others in the community to join in support of our event.  Toyota Motor Sales is again a Diamond Sponsor at the $25,000 level, and has been a faithful supporter of H.E.L.P. over the years.  Other sponsors who have already committed their support are Providence TrinityCare Hospice Foundation and Jacky Glass, Jimi Andersen, Nadine and Robert Kirkpatrick, LA County Supervisor Don Knabe, Frank and Marilyn Schaffer, Brad and Jennifer Baker, Lincoln Iron and Metals Co., Inc., and Southern California Edison International.  We hope you will consider joining this illustrious group by giving generously in support of our mission.

Honorees for the evening will be Jacqueline Glass, who will receive the H.E.L.P. Inspiration award; Helen Dennis, the Legacy Award; and Providence TrinityCare Hospice Foundation, the H.E.L.P. Vanguard Award.  Everyone at H.E.L.P. looks forward to honoring them for their outstanding service and contributions to our community.  Steve Napolitano, Deputy to L.A. County Supervisor, will M.C. the award ceremony, and Mark Mariscal, Superintendent, L.A. City Parks and Recreation, will be the volunteer auctioneer.

Our volunteers play a very important role in helping with all of the preparations for our fundraiser and are crucial to the success of the evening.  Gala committee members who are working hard on the event include Nancy Scott and Linda Cochrane, who are chairing the silent auction.  Sally Moton and Mardy Maehara are chairing the Royal Chances, a new fundraising opportunity this year.  Other committee members are Dale Harbour-Day, Laura Kauls, Joyce Kochanowski, Elaine Miller, Kay Yamada, Grace Wallace, Samantha Martinez, Ardis Shubin, Elizabeth Hoang, and Kathleen Davis.  The Torrance Women’s Club is also providing great support for the event.  Coordinated by Kathleen Davis, other TWC volunteers are Fran Day, Beth O’Gorman, Deanna Hanson, Jeannine Glomboske, Irma Chiota, and Barbara Freeman.
